Hey fellow creatives!
We talk a lot about junk journaling here at KushKards – and for good reason! It’s an incredible way to mix and match, tell stories, and create truly unique art. But what if you just... really, really love paper? Like, pure paper?
That's where my latest obsession comes in: the Paper Collage Journal.
For me, this isn't just another journal; it's a dedicated space for my love affair with paper. This is where my journaling ecosystem truly begins to diversify. Just like you might have a planner, a gratitude journal, or a sketch journal, having a dedicated space for just paper collage serves a distinct and incredibly satisfying need.
Why a Paper Collage Journal?
Honestly, this journal has my name all over it. I am absolutely obsessed with collecting paper scraps. From pretty magazine clippings and patterned paper remnants to interesting textures and vibrant offcuts, my stash is constantly growing. And this journal gives those scraps a beautiful, purposeful home.
The process is pure therapeutic fun:
-
Collecting the Paper Scraps: It starts with the hunt! Finding those perfect bits and bobs from old magazines, stationery, packaging – anything that catches my eye.
-
Theming by Color: This is my favorite part! I love taking a handful of scraps and organizing them by a specific color palette. The magic happens when you see how different shades and patterns of one color can harmonize on a page.
-
Making a Fun Collage Art Paper Spread: Then, it's all about playing! Arranging, layering, tearing, gluing – creating a cohesive and visually stimulating piece of collage art using only paper. No words, no ephemera (unless it's paper!), just the pure beauty of paper itself.
It's a wonderful way to practice your eye for composition, explore color theory, and simply enjoy the tactile experience of paper. And the best part? It doesn't always have to be "junk." Sometimes, it can just be beautiful paper, artfully arranged.
So, if you're a paper hoarder like me, or just looking to expand your journaling horizons, I highly recommend dedicating a journal purely to paper collage. It's a serene, satisfying, and visually rewarding experience that will spark your creativity in new ways.
